Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my massage session take place?

Your session will be held in a serene and comfortable room designed to promote relaxation. Gentle, soothing music will play in the background to help you unwind. You'll lie on a specially crafted table designed for comfort, featuring an adjustable face rest, supportive bolsters for your knees and ankles, and an optional heating feature for added coziness.

Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?

Your privacy and comfort are our top priorities. The therapist will step out of the room while you undress, settle onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet—adding a blanket if you’d like. Before re-entering, your therapist will knock to ensure you’re comfortably covered and ready to begin.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

A full-body session typically covers your back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, chest, glutes, scalp, and possibly face. We always sanitize our hands before touching your face and use minimal lotion or oil on your hair and scalp. Chest and glute areas can be worked over the sheet for comfort. Please inform your therapist in advance about any areas to avoid.  Important: To include your stomach, please request it specifically.

Are there different kinds of massage?

Massage and bodywork come in many forms, using techniques like gentle strokes, broad strokes, directed strokes, rhythmic rocking, posture re-education, and targeted pressure. During your intake consultation, your therapist will determine the best massage modalities and methods for your goals, they will then blend these techniques to craft a personalized therapeutic massage experience.

Must I be completely undressed?

Massage and bodywork techniques are typically performed with the client unclothed, but your comfort is the priority. You can choose to wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Rest assured, you will be fully and appropriately draped throughout the entire session for your privacy and peace of mind.

Will I be covered during the session?

You will remain comfortably and securely draped with a sheet throughout your session, ensuring your privacy at all times. Only the specific area being worked on will be uncovered. If you ever feel chilly or overly exposed, we can provide an additional blanket for extra warmth, weight, and comfort.

What will the massage feel like?

Your session begins with gentle compression over the sheet, followed by flowing strokes to calm your nervous system. As your body relaxes, pressure increases to release muscular tension. Light oil or lotion is applied for smooth, comfortable movements. Communicate any discomfort immediately so adjustments can be made. Massage and bodywork work best when your body is relaxed and receptive.

What should I do during the massage session?

Relax and get comfortable during your massage. Your therapist will guide you, either by gently moving you or informing you as needed. Typically, therapists prefer you don’t assist unless asked. Many clients close their eyes and unwind, sharing feedback only if adjustments are needed—like pressure changes or anything to improve the experience. Feel free to ask any questions.

How will I feel after the massage?

Many individuals describe feeling profoundly relaxed after a session, often experiencing relief from chronic aches and tension caused by stress or repetitive activities. While you might feel slightly sluggish at first, this is usually followed by a noticeable boost in energy, sharper mental clarity, and increased productivity that can last for days. Occasionally, mild soreness may occur, depending on the pressure applied during the session, which is always customized to suit your preferences and needs.

Are there any recommendations for post-session?

During a massage, toxins are released from your soft tissues, so it's highly recommended to drink plenty of water afterward. Staying hydrated helps minimize any potential soreness and aids in flushing out those released toxins. Additionally, taking an Epsom salt bath after your session can further support relaxation and recovery. Gentle, comfortable stretching is also a great way to enhance the benefits of your massage.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?

Massage offers a wide range of benefits for both the body and mind. It can help relieve chronic muscle tension and pain, enhance circulation, improve joint flexibility, and ease both physical and mental fatigue. Massage is also effective in reducing stress, supporting faster recovery of injured muscles, improving posture, and lowering blood pressure. Additionally, massage is known to promote restful sleep, boost concentration, reduce anxiety, alleviate headaches and migraines, and foster an overall sense of wellness.

Are there any contraindications for massage?

Absolutely. Before starting your session, we’ll ask you some general health questions to ensure a safe and effective experience. Prior to your first session, you'll also need to complete a new client intake form. It's crucial to inform your therapist about any health conditions or medications you’re currently using. If you’re under a doctor’s care, we recommend obtaining a written approval for massage therapy before your appointment.
